When Jim Balsillie, co-CEO of RIM, wanted to buy the Nashville Predators and move the team to Hamilton, I got excited.
So much so that I put down more than $1,000 for "Hamilton Predators" season tickets. Even though, deep down, I knew there was no way in hell Hamilton was getting an NHL franchise, relocated or otherwise.
The sale of the Predators to Balsillie fell through and the conspiracy theories quickly started to form.
The most popular of the bunch? It was Gary Bettman's fault. He hates Canada and Canadians and doesn't want another NHL team in Canada.
I love a good conspiracy theory but I don't buy that one. It's not that Bettman doesn't want a team in Hamilton, he simply can't allow it to happen.
