One thing we now know, as if any further proof was needed, is that Sean Avery shouldn't be expecting a Christmas card from Martin Brodeur.

Big deal. That Avery-hating line forms over there to the right, and it is a long one.

The problem in Jersey goes much deeper than a petty on-ice feud.

The Devils are a whole lot of Brodeur and a little of much else, and one-trick ponies usually don't last all that long come spring, at least not in the NHL.

Let's state the obvious. Avery is a tool, but that isn't exactly news. The headlines being made by Brodeur refusing to shake Avery's hand in the seconds following the Blueshirts' sudden demolition of the...

It's great to see smug Marty get what he deserves. Welcome to the rest of the league. Playing behind a team that isn't totally commited to denfense makes one look human.

I think Marty WAS a great goalie, but isn't nearly as strong as he was when he was a younger version.

That said, I agree that defense has been a big part of it - but his save % was always good no matter what, telling me that we can't discount that he was very good in his day.

I can't see how anyone can say Marty is regressing. He's putting up his third highest SV% of his career, has just completed his seventh 40 win season, and is a favourite for the Vezina.

He's still the top goaltender in the league, but I agree that his age and the fact that he is overused in the regular season is catching up with him in the playoffs. Not to mention the Devils are not a very good team any more. I feel he is suffering from mental fatigue by having to carry this team on his back ever since the lockout.

As for the smug post - Ranger fan, I'm guessing.

If you look at his profile he's a rangers fan and is also busy hatin' on Brodeur and the Devils in other threads. =P
