Yes, it's that time of year when everyone has a prediction on who will be in and what teams will be booking tee times once the NHL playoffs begin. Some have inside knowledge and expert opinion.Others just think they do. As for me, I have a shiny nickel, one side heads, the other tails. Works for me. And so, without further ado — mostly because I want you to see how the coin flip turned out — I am giving you the scoop on who I think will be around to play an 83rd game of the year. Remember, kids, do not try this at home. I have no idea what I am doing, which, for you bettors, is about as close to a disclaimer as you are going to get. I wonder how Flyers fans will take the news that their team likely won't be in the post-season dance.
Gotta agree though, they have been sliding and I can see it not happening.

Gotta agree though, they have been sliding and I can see it not happening. There is so much anti-Flyer bias in the hockey world it isn't funny. Flyers will be there. They may not get far, but they'll be there.

I like your list; it just goes to prove that goaltending and defense win silver cups. The Habs and the Devils have that going on right now. Price and Halak are making Gainey look good and of course Marty is Marty, nothing ever seems to faze him. They both have blueliners that can handle anything the conference can throw at them. If there is one change I would make, don't count to Caps out, OV is a machine with a mission, as we've all seen, and he can win a game singlehandedly. The Caps are missing that key ingredient to go deep, defense.

The winner gets the right to get creamed by the West champ.

No Capitals?! Big win tonight with OV netting another three points.
Philly won, but I still think we can make it but maybe it is Boston we catch. :)

New Jersey will be tough to beat, but I think the Habs can take them out. With their powerplay they may be able to find a way to solve Brodeur, but the teams that scare me right now are the Senators and Canes. They just seem to be lurking right now.

NJ plays a great team game that obviously starts from the goal outwards. But as for their actual defense? They're hardly intimidating.
Although, since the old adage goes that one can never count out a Sutter coached team, my guess is it will between NJ and Montreal to duke it for the number one spot.

Great point - hard to discount the Sutter factor. Unfortunately he can't lace them up and play anymore.

Jersey is the team to beat, no doubt, but Carolina sure is coming on. If they can get a favorable matchup, they may turn a few heads. Momentum is everything, and right now the Canes have it.
