I am still hoping and praying that the Leafs manage to suck badly enough to have a shot at Stamkos in the draft, either that or Cliffy can trade up and try to get first overall. Of course neither of those things will happen, but I will still hope and pray!!

Stamkos is a no-brainer for any team, including LA. He will go first overall otherwise someone is missing the boat.

Well, considering the Kings spent the 4th overall pick in last year's draft on Thomas Hickey, I'm not so sure they even own a boat.

As a Kings fan, I want to see them draft Stamkos. However, as a Kings fan, it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if they didn't.

It doesn't matter if it is Stamkos, Doughty or anyone else in that top seven, with the young talent the Kings have coming up, it will be a great fit.
I can see this team being a real force in the next couple of years, a la Pittsburgh...

Its will be much longer then a couple years. The kings will have to have a 5 year plan.

Good point, but I think they are in the midst of that 5-year plan. Plenty of young talent on the Kings, now they need to fix that goaltending and blueline. If they can begin to address those needs this summer in the draft and free agency, they may start to make a move. There is no no quick fix, but the Kings at least have a few pieces to build around. I see them a lot like the Hawks in a couple of seasons.

I so agree!

Stamkos may be the first choice of some teams in the draft, he may be first rated. But some teams are more in need of a 'stud' defenseman. And that would be Drew Doughty. I watch as much OHL hockey as I do NHL, and Zach Bogosian isn't exactly a consolation prize either. A fairly rich draft this year, I think.

To that, I think they'll be fine in goal sooner than later with Bernier. If they really get serious about drafting Doughty or any other top seven pick if they land the top spot, they should really consider trading down and picking up a couple more picks/prospects.

That being said, I do have a dream of them drafting Stamkos, being horrible next year, landing the top spot again, and landing Tavares. Curse you for putting that scenario in my head, Hockey News!

Whoever wins this lottery would be nuts not to take Stamkos. It is a deep draft but Stamkos is a stud. He has superstar written all over him.
He will be the first name called this summer.
