The video evidence is in, now let the debate begin.

Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg scored what could be one of the best goals of the past season, let alone the playoffs, last week against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4 of their Western Conference semi final.

Zetterberg was spinning and, as he was falling to the ice, was still able to backhand a loose puck past Peter Budaj while ending up on flat on all fours.

Incredible hand-eye co-ordination, to say the least. And worthy of all the accolades coming his way thus far.

But some folks suggest it was blind luck with the argument being the puck simply hit his stick as he was spinning like a top.

Well, sometimes...

When an odd-looking or unusual goal is scored, you may hear,'You have to be good to be lucky' and 'they all count', to name a couple. Ovechkin's horizontal, ice-level backhand effort is, after all, a pretty dang good comparison w/Zetterberg's goal, where his stick was the last thing to leave the ice. Both goals seemed to be of a reactionary nature. Nevertheless, "TWO GREAT GOALS BY TWO GREAT PLAYERS." Sometimes I feel privileged to have been born in such a great era of hockey, particularly the NHL, of course. From the 6 team league to 30. A lotta change! WOW! What a ride!!! "KEEP IT UP!!!"

Thanks Kindly,
EB

You want to talk goal of the year I have two words for you: RICK NASH. Vs. Pheonix he had complete control of the puck went around two defensemen and made them look like the should have been is some beer league in Michigan. He then got the puck poke checked into his body by the goaltender and had the presence of mind to be patient let it drop and put it in the vacated net. Zetterberg spun out of control and if the puck is not sitting there nicely for him he has no chance. It's not luck that he scored the goal it is luck that when he spun around the puck was within his reach.

If that is not enough here is another Nash candidate for goal of the year from October vs. the Blues.
