Olympiques beat Huskies; one win away from Memorial Cup Options

GATINEAU, Que. - Paul Byron had a goal and two assists and the Gatineau Olympiques moved away from a berth in the Memorial Cup with a 4-1 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Wednesday.

Gatineau leads the best-of-seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final 3-1. The Olympiques are looking to represent the QMJHL at the Memorial Cup for the third time in the past six seasons.

Claude Giroux had a goal and an assist for Gatineau. He now has 48 points in the post-season, tying the club record set in 1988 by Marc Saumier.

Jean-Philip and Darryl Smith also scored for Gatineau.

Jeff Desjardins had the only goal for the Huskies.

Game 5 is Friday at Rouyn-Noranda, Que.
