Interesting to see the changes on the Canadian Women's team heading into the World Championships. They're missing several key players from recent championships:

Gone are:
Vicky Sunohara
Sami Jo Small
Cheryl Pounder (having a baby)
Danielle Goyette (retired)

Sunohara was on eight world championship teams.

There's still a wealth of experience on this team, but they look to be staying AWAY from what the men's team does - they're getting rid of the some of the aging vets and going with a more youthful approach.

It'll be fun to see how they do - they should be in tough against the US, as usual.

My daughter is a huge women's hockey fan, and dreams on playing University hockey and maybe for the National team some day.

She cried when Cassie Campbell retired a couple of years ago. She was her hero.

I won't tell you what my son thinks of women's hockey. We will get him to appreciate it someday.

Campbell will likely be the lead on the Olympics television coverage, I'd think. She's got a great personality and girls really do seem to look up to her.

She's done a decent job for CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, which has been an Old Boy's spot traditionally, after being thrown to the wolves that first game a year or two ago.

the women survived Campbell's retirement, they'll survive these others.

Is Hayley WIckenheiser still playing though? I didn't think to notice earlier.

They'll be fine as long as Jayna Hefford still plays on that squad

Agreed. This team need some fresh blood though to ward off getting too complacent going into Vancouver.

Canadian womens hockey looks good in the future. Watching as much girls minor hockey as I do, the sport is growing in leaps and bounds. There are many Cassie Campbells coming up in the future.
