The NHL’s Conference Finals begin tonight and while the Philadelphia Flyers seem to be the Cinderella story, few people had pegged the Dallas Stars to still be at the ball this late.

In the final weeks of the NHL’s regular season, I remember being asked which team would win the Stanley Cup. I thought a number of teams had a legitimate shot, but I was forced to pick one, so I said Dallas. This after the Stars acquired arguably the trade deadline’s top prize in Brad Richards, the 2004 Conn Smythe trophy winner....
